I
Interviewer: When we say Blips, who is she?
Blips: Blips is me. I am Beatrice Amankwah Nketsiah. I created a brand called Blips years back to deliver solutions across everyday needs. By God’s grace, it is now registered as BLIPS HORIZON with the Registrar. We offer services like home care, fertility support, courier services, importation, and more. In fact, once it’s legal—count me in.
I
Interviewer: Can you tell us about your early life?
Blips: I grew up in Shama in the Western Region of Ghana. I’m the firstborn from both sides of my family, and that gave me a strong sense of responsibility, creativity, and entrepreneurship. My parents owned a mini mart, and after school, I would help out. I even started managing the shop while in primary school. Those early experiences shaped my passion for service and entrepreneurship.
I
Interviewer: Growing up, did you always see yourself as an entrepreneur, or did life take a different turn?
Blips: No, I didn’t. (laughs) I used to see myself becoming a bank manager or a lawyer. I only began developing an entrepreneurial mindset in my first year at university. Life changed when my mom lost her job in 2021, and I had to step in to support my siblings. It hasn’t been easy, but God is still with us.
I
Interviewer: When and how did your career or business journey start?
Blips: It started in 2018, but it was just hand-to-mouth business. The real Blips idea took off in 2020 after the COVID-19 bans were lifted. I began with clothing, added importation, and later supported it with courier services. Unfortunately, my bikes got stolen, and I was also scammed by suppliers in China, which left me in debt. I had to take on a 9–5 job to support myself and clear my debts. Now, I work with an agency for CBG while building my caregiving, nanny, and house service business alongside my importation business.
I
Interviewer: We knew you as Blips Thrift Store, Blips Imports, and your jobs platform. Are there any other businesses or services you offer?
Blips: Yes, I also run Fertility Support Services. I assist clients who need sperm and egg donors, as well as surrogates for the IVF journey, and I manage the entire process.
I
Interviewer: What was the biggest challenge when you first stepped into business?
Blips: Publicity and getting people to trust my business.
I
Interviewer: What impact do you hope your business has on society?
Blips: I want Blips to create jobs, provide trusted care for families, and make daily life easier through reliable services. My goal is to empower people—whether through caregiving, courier support, or employment opportunities—so communities can thrive.
I
Interviewer: Where do you see yourself in the next 5–10 years?
Blips: I want to be able to accomplish these goals and establish Blips as a trusted, multi-faceted brand.
I
Interviewer: What advice would you give to your younger self?
Blips: Learn about financial discipline and its management process.
I
Interviewer: What advice would you give to fellow women who are just starting out in business?
Blips: It’s very hard to climb the ladder of success. There will be times you cry, but don’t stop. If you need a break to strategize for the future, take it. Even if you have to start all over again, do it. Always have the mindset of not quitting.
