Be concerned about your health: Poor water drinking habits you need to quit 🤫

WATER💦

Water is an inorganic compound which is transparent, tasteless, and odorless. It is existent in all living organisms which makes it a crucial component of life. It is essential for body processes like metabolism, transport of nutrients, waste removal from kidneys, temperature regulation and more. Regardless of its importance, it can still damage your health over time if its intake is not taken into consideration.

Poor Water Drinking Practices That Should Be Put To A Stop

  1. Drinking too much water during meals: This is very usual habit with most of us especially because we don't know much about good drinking habits. Consuming excess water during meal intakes retards easy digestion. The water dilutes hydrochloric acid which aids in digestion process.
  2. Inadequate water intake: Most of the time we forget to to stay hydrated, because we are only focused on our daily goals than our health. When we prolong our water consumption, it leads to headaches, fatigue, dry skin, and impaired focus.
  3. Refusing to hydrate through our daily activities: Physical activities reduce our fluid levels because it heats up our body. The intense breathing also results in loss of water vapor. So whether you're gyming or simply doing regular outdoor work, hydration should be highly prioritised as dehydration leads to limited productivity.
  4. Substituting water with sugary or caffeinated drinks:Many people reach for sodas, energy drinks, or excessive amounts of coffee and tea instead of plain water. While these beverages may offer quick refreshment, their high sugar and caffeine content actually promote dehydration and, over time, increase the risk of health issues such as weight gain, diabetes, and heart problems.
  5. Refusing to drink steadily: Most times we rely on thirst as a signal to dehydrate this leads to gulping large amounts of water which strains the kidneys and less effective than consistently sipping water.

Conclusion 💭

Poor water drinking habits are patterns of fluid intake that fail to give the body enough hydration or overload it at the wrong times. These habits can harm health in the long run. Remember to prioritise drinking water for the sake of your health, pause and reflect next time you reach for caffeine or a drink instead of plain water.
