Let's talk facts: Skincare myths.
Two beautiful dark women with a healthy skin

There are so many myths about skin and hair that people take seriously  and it’s honestly hilarious. It's time to set the record straight.

Myth 1: “Creams and serums alone will make me glow.”

Reality: Nope. Your skin reflects what’s inside. You can apply a GHS300 cream all day, but if you live on fried food and sugary drinks, your face will also look fried and sugary. Include fruits and veggies in your every day meal, drink water like it’s juice, and say hello to a healthy skin ready to glow.

How to care for different types of skin.

Myth 2: “Oily food makes my skin oily.”

Reality: Skin oil and food oil are not the same. Eating healthy fats like avocado or nuts actually makes your skin soft and hair shiny. You skip nuts for a month thinking it will help your skin, and now your hair breaks every time you comb it. Meanwhile, your friend eats avocado toast daily and their hair looks like it’s in a shampoo ad.

Myth 3: “I can skip breakfast, it won’t affect my glow.”

Reality: Your skin and hair need nutrients in the morning to kickstart repair and hydration. Skipping breakfast is basically telling your body, “Nope, survive on nothing today.” You run out with only a cup of tea. By 10 am, your skin looks dull, and your hair already feels limp. Your friend had oats and bananas, and they’re already shining.

Myth 4: “Sunblock is not by force.”

Reality: The sun is sneaky. It damages skin even when it feels cool outside. Use sunscreen protects all the healthy food work you’re doing inside. You spent the week eating greens and fruits religiously, then skipped sunscreen. By the weekend, dark spots appear like uninvited guests to a wedding.

A glow-up cheat menu

Here’s how a normal day could look if you actually ate for your skin and hair:

Breakfast: Oats with banana and groundnuts.

Snack: Orange or pawpaw (instead of meat pie).

Lunch: Grilled fish, brown rice, and kontomire stew.

Snack: A handful of nuts.

Dinner: Chicken with vegetable soup and whole wheat bread.

Evening: Herbal tea + a big glass of water.

Note: I mean big glass of water, but you gotta drink the right way, and make sure you don't pee on your bed. Good drinking water habits.

Take your edibles seriously and you'll step out to answer all the questions you wanna be asked. Someone goes like, “Wow, what cream do you use?” And you just smile because the secret is just kontomire and avocados. There's no need to stress like crazy for a beautiful, skin just eat responsibly and healthily my dear.
